Travel is stressful for a young plant. For the first two weeks after delivery, keep your sapling in a shaded spot — not direct sunlight. This gives the roots time to recover before the plant has to cope with full sun exposure.

Use filtered water rather than hard tap water during this settling-in period. Hard water adds an extra source of stress on top of the stress of travel — filtered water is gentler while the plant recovers.
3. Don't plant in the ground yet
Resist the urge to plant it straight into the ground. Let it stay in its container for the first two weeks so it can settle before facing the shift to open soil. Planting too early adds stress on top of stress.
