Tabebuia rosea blooms first, roughly January to April, with pink trumpet flowers on bare branches. Pink Shower flowers later, mostly April to June, with cascading pink clusters on a leafy crown. The Hong Kong orchid tree flowers from autumn to spring with large purple-pink, orchid-like flowers. All three need full sun and room to spread.
A young sapling can stay in a large container for a year or two, but both are full-size trees. For good growth and flowers, plant them in the ground in full sun, 5–6 m from buildings.
Most gardeners plant at the start of the monsoon, when rain helps the roots establish. With regular watering you can also plant at other times, except in peak summer heat.
