Dendrobium Blue Planet is a hybrid sought after for its cool, blue-toned flowers, a colour that is uncommon in orchids and prized by collectors. Like other Dendrobiums, it grows on upright canes and carries sprays of flowers that last for weeks. It does well in the bright, filtered light of a balcony or shaded garden in warm Indian climates.
Orchids reward the right setup: the right light, a fast-draining mix and a regular feed. Below you will find the origin, a plant profile, care steps for Indian conditions and the flowering time, so you know what to expect before you order.

Give bright light with gentle morning sun, for example under a 50% shade net or on an east-facing balcony. Firm, light-green leaves are a good sign. Dark, floppy leaves mean too little light; scorched patches mean too much.
Water thoroughly when the mix is nearly dry, usually every 2–3 days in hot weather and about once a week in cooler months. Never let the pot stand in water.
Use bark, charcoal and coco chips, never garden soil. Dendrobiums resent disturbance and flower best in a small pot, so repot only every 1–2 years when the mix breaks down.
Feed weekly in the growing season with a balanced orchid fertiliser at quarter to half strength, and flush the pot with plain water once a month.
Comfortable between about 18°C and 30°C, which suits most of peninsular India. Good air movement and moderate humidity prevent rot and fungal spots.
Do not cut healthy green canes. Remove only dried flower spikes, keep watering and feeding, and the plant can flower again.
Thai-type Dendrobium hybrids flower mainly in spring and summer in India, and in warm conditions many can flower more than once a year. Each spray of flowers lasts about 3–6 weeks. Bright filtered light, a weekly feed and a small pot are what bring on repeat flowering. Timing varies by hybrid and by the weather in your city.

Yes, on a bright balcony or window with filtered light and good airflow. Deep indoor shade will stop it flowering.
Thai-type Dendrobium hybrids are among the easier orchids for warm Indian climates, as long as they get bright light and a fast-draining mix.
