Give bright light with gentle morning sun, for example under a 50% shade net or on an east-facing balcony. Firm, light-green leaves are a good sign. Dark, floppy leaves mean too little light; scorched patches mean too much.
Water thoroughly when the mix is nearly dry, usually every 2–3 days in hot weather and about once a week in cooler months. Never let the pot stand in water.
Use bark, charcoal and coco chips, never garden soil. Dendrobiums resent disturbance and flower best in a small pot, so repot only every 1–2 years when the mix breaks down.
Feed weekly in the growing season with a balanced orchid fertiliser at quarter to half strength, and flush the pot with plain water once a month.
Comfortable between about 18°C and 30°C, which suits most of peninsular India. Good air movement and moderate humidity prevent rot and fungal spots.
Do not cut healthy green canes. Remove only dried flower spikes, keep watering and feeding, and the plant can flower again.
