Echeveria is a genus of rosette-forming succulents from the semi-desert regions of Mexico and Central America, reaching into north-western South America. 'Green Spoon' is a trade name for a form with broad, spoon-like pale green leaves that turn pink to red at the tips in bright light.
It stores water in thick leaves and wants strong light and very little water. In India it does best in a bright spot that is protected from the monsoon, where it forms a tidy rosette that slowly offsets into clusters.

Written for India's heat, humidity and monsoon. These are general guidelines; adjust to your city, balcony and season, and message us if you want advice for your location.
4–6 hours of bright light with morning sun is ideal. Too little light stretches the plant and loses the colour.
In peak heat (March to May), give light shade in the afternoon to prevent scorched leaves.
Water at the soil, not into the rosette. About every 7–10 days in summer and every 2 weeks when cooler, only when fully dry.
Use a fast-draining cactus mix with extra grit or perlite, in a terracotta pot with drainage.
Shelter it from heavy rain. Wet leaves and humid air cause rot.
Feed a diluted cactus fertiliser once a month in the growing season. Remove dried bottom leaves.
In India, echeverias usually send up their arching flower stalks from late winter into early summer, roughly February to June, carrying small bell-shaped coral, pink or yellow flowers that attract bees. Bright light and a cooler, drier rest period encourage blooming. After flowering, trim off the stalk at the base.

Leaf and bloom detailNot enough light. Move it to a brighter spot where it gets several hours of direct morning sun.
Not well. Heavy rain causes rot, so keep it under cover during the monsoon.
Echeveria is generally listed as non-toxic to pets, but keep plants out of reach of chewing animals.
