Haworthia is a genus of small succulents from South Africa and nearby parts of southern Africa, where they grow tucked in the shade of rocks and shrubs. 'Resendeana' is the name this striped, zebra-type form is sold under, a collector's variety with a tidy rosette of firm, pointed leaves banded in white.
Unlike most succulents it does not need blazing sun, so it works well on a bright windowsill, desk or shaded balcony. Growth is slow, so a small plant stays neat for a long time.

Written for India's heat, humidity and monsoon. These are general guidelines; adjust to your city, balcony and season, and message us if you want advice for your location.
Bright indirect light or a few hours of soft morning sun. Harsh afternoon sun scorches or reddens the leaves.
Water thoroughly, then wait until the soil is fully dry: about every 10–15 days in summer, and far less in monsoon and winter.
Use a gritty mix, roughly two thirds coarse sand, perlite or pumice with some potting soil, in a terracotta pot with drainage.
Move it under cover during heavy rain. Wet soil and humid air are what make succulents rot in India.
Feed a diluted cactus or succulent fertiliser once or twice in the growing season. It needs little.
Repot when it fills the pot, into fresh gritty mix, and let it dry a few days before watering.
Mature plants usually send up thin, wiry flower stalks in spring to early summer, roughly March to June, carrying small white tubular flowers. They are modest compared to the plant itself. A well-lit, not over-watered plant flowers more reliably. Cut the stalk at the base once it fades.
